General Description:

FP7-ESS (Evaluation Support Service) is the European Union service in charge of the assessment process of funding requests by all the European Union Scientific community.
The 7 Framework Programme for research and development is the community instrument voted by the UE for the financing of research proposals, subjected within the framework of calls for tenders (about 100 per year).

Context:

For FP7, theEuropean Union allocated scientific research with a substantial budget (over 72 billion euros over its seven-year lifespan), for amongst others health, health, transport, agriculture, energy...

Each year, thousands of proposals (40 000 average) are submitted to the DG Research. These are then imported by the ESS in the assessment database, archived, printed and injected in the assessment tool used by the scientific experts assigned by the DG Research for the evaluation of the received proposals and the selection of those who will be subsidised.

The role of Diadeis is to make sure that the scientific experts can entirely be concentrated on the evaluation process, without caring about material contingencies. The ESS process must allow a high quality service with respect of the tight security, integrity and data confidentiality rules.
